Rhythm Kids®, is the perfect program to get your child ready for formal instrument lessons when they are a little older. There are so few programs out there available for this age group and it's bursting with fun and playful education. This fantastic program guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative.
This class is geared for children 4 to 8 years old. Each week we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and begin to play music-based games. Rhythm Kids ®, guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative. In each class, students will:
- Learn multicultural drumming patterns
- Develop new repertoire on various percussion instruments
- Explore movement and dance while singing songs
- Play games based on music and drumming
- Have fun with a host of rhythm activities
- Get ready for formalized instrument lessons
Rhythm Kids ®, follows through on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age eight. As they drum, sing, and move to new rhythms, children naturally build musicality that helps them transition to fomal instrument lessons such as Ukulele around age 6. Many Music Teachers feel that our program really gets their child ready for more formal instruments lessons with the activities we do in class. And for the children who are eager to start "formal" instrument lessons too young (*before* they are ready), this is the program you have been waiting for. If you want to read more about getting your child ready for formal music lessons, you can read this article by the founder of Music Together, Ken Guilmartin.
Parents are invited to participate with your child. Maximum of 12 children per class.
